Why a revolving head is so important to professionals

The head of the vice rotates through 360° on its horizontal axis, without the need to release the work. The rotating head is held in a robust cast steel pedestal which forms a rigid clam secured by a locking key. Work can therefore be carried out in very confined areas, the vice head being rotated to the most convenient position without sacrificing the securest possible hold.

Either of two pairs of jaws is selected by rotating the vice head. One pair of jaws is FLAT, the other concave for PIPES, bars and cylindrical work. The jaw liners are made of hardened steel. Jaws in aluminium or acetyl may also be ordered.

The lead screw and nut are totally enclosed within the rotatable cylindrical housing.

The top of the pedestal is flat so that, with the jaws turned horizontally, the body can be used as an anvil.

Independent tests show that the 4"/101mm vice can exert a clamping force of 4000lbs without sustaining any damage. The Clamping capacity of the 6"/152mm and 8"/204 mm vices are in proportion.

Construction
The pedestal/anvil is made from the highest quality Cast Steet (BS3100 (1991) A3). The jaws and other parts from highest quality Cast Iron (ISOBS3100). Flat and Pipe jaws are made from hardened steel or any other material required: Acetyl, Aluminium etc.

Non-Magnetic / Non-Spark Options.

Rotating Locking Handle
The vice head rotates through 360° around the horizontal axis, locked with a rigid clamp at ANY angle desired. The handle is made of forged steel.
Clamping Force
4"/102 mm vice exerts a clamping force of up to 4000 lbs. Clamping force of other vices pro-rata.

Jaw opening with precise tolerances
Not only will the Swindens Revolving Head Vice allow increased accuracy in your own work, but you’ll soon notice that it is built to very high tolerances. This quality of build means that the vice is way ahead of the competition in terms of usability, reliability and durability.

Swivel base
A swivel base can be made to order. However we are preparing to incorporate a swivel base into the castings of the pedestals.

Anvil incorporated
The pedestal, being made of Cast Steel, is strong enough to be used as an anvil.

Guaranteed Quality ISO 9001: 2008
Vickers PLC has paid us the compliment of awarding Swindens Revolving Head Vices with an 'A' Grade Vendor status for:

"Demonstrating a consistent high level of quality in the products supplied - thus necessitating only a minimal degree of inspection at Vickers Defence Systems." (Asessed every 3 months).
